Why can’t I log in to my email account?
The most common reason for an unsuccessful login is providing an incorrect username or password. Double check your details. Multiple failed attempts can result in your IP address being blocked for a short period of time. More about that and what to do if you are blocked on this page.

I have an email address with my own domain, can I use it with mail.coop?
Read this article if you have one or more email addresses that are on your own domain and that you previously had working in some way with the Phone Coop.
Do I have to pay for my email service?
Yes, as we are a separate co-operative organisation, we are charging £24 a year for a single mailbox and 5GB of email storage, and £50 a year for an account with 25GB of storage and up to 5 mailboxes.
How do I pay for my subscription?
You can make payment for your new email service by setting up a card payment through our payment processor, Stripe, or via Paypal.
Is mail.coop ethical and sustainable?
We’re organised as a cooperative, under the auspices of innovation.coop – a member of Co-operatives UK – and operate according to the internationally agreed statement of values and principles. The statement explicitly mentions the ethical values of: honesty, openness, social responsibility, and caring for others. mail.coop will always be operated as a cooperative venture.
The email servers that we operate are powered by 100% renewable energy. Our goal is to deliver a high quality service in a way that is both affordable for the people who use the service, and sustainable in terms of our environmental impact.
What features do I get with mail.coop?
Our webmail platform gives you access to the following features.
Localised – Available in over a dozen languages.
Sharing – Share mail, calendars and addresses with other users.
Reminders – Set alarms to important events.
Recurring Events – Define precise recurrence patterns for your repeating events.
Delegation – Delegate access to your mail account to another person.
Notifications – Receive desktop notifications for events alarms and new mail messages.
HTML – Compose HTML mail with the inline rich-text editor.
Mail Identities – Define custom mail identities and associate signatures to your addresses.
Mail Return Receipt – Request or answer to return requests to confirm the arrival of messages.
Forward and Auto-Reply – Set an auto reply while on holiday or forward all your incoming mail to one or many alternate email addresses.

What do I get for £24 per year?
For £24 per year you’ll get 1 mailbox with up to 5GB of storage, as well as all the features of our webmail client and access via IMAP and POP3 for your desktop and mobile clients.
What do I get for £50 per year?
For £50 per year you’ll get up to 5 mailboxes with a total storage limit of 25GB, as well as all the features of our webmail client and access via IMAP and POP3 for your desktop and mobile clients.

Former Phone Coop users: why has my email moved to a new provider?
Midcounties Cooperative (formally Phone Coop) decided to cease providing email addresses with its broadband products. This is in common with many ISPs. However, unlike other ISPs Midcounties has been working in close cooperation with mail.coop to provide users with a way to keep their Phone Coop and Poptel email addresses. You can read more about mail.coop here.
If you have a broadband package with Your Coop Broadband, don’t worry, the service will not be affected in any other way and your mail.coop email service is fully compatible.
Former Phone Coop users: what happens to the email on my old account?
All users that opted to use mail.coop have now been switched to the new service. We have done our best to ensure that all the old email has been copied over.
Former Phone Coop users: can I keep my existing Your Co-op Broadband email address?
Yes – you can continue to use your Your Coop Broadband email addresses, including:
@3-c.coop
@cooptel.net
@good.co.uk
@myphone.coop
@phonecoop.coop
@pop3.poptel.org.uk
@poptel.org
@poptel.org.uk
All of these domains are now on our servers. If you have your own domain that you used with the Phone Coop then read this article.
There are some changes in how you access and use your email:
- If you use Webmail, there is a new URL to access your email.
- If you are accessing email from a mobile phone, iPad or using a software program on your computer like Microsoft Outlook, you need to update your settings to use our servers after you have been migrated.

Former Phone Coop users: what happens if I have multiple email addresses that I want to keep?
If you have more than one Your Coop Broadband email address that you want to keep, just be sure to let us know during the registration process, and then you can choose to purchase enough mailboxes to meet your needs.

These changes to the Your Co-op Broadband email service are totally separate to other services provided by Your Co-op Broadband. If you use their service for your broadband connection, mobile and/or landline calls, etc., these will continue unaffected.
